Nexira joins the United Nations Global Compact initiative

Based on a strong and long-term commitment,
Nexira joins the United Nations Global Compact initiative

With decades of commitment in sustainable development, Nexira is proud to join the United Nations Global Compact.

Today, NEXIRA is pleased to announce that we have joined the United Nations Global Compact initiative — a voluntary leadership platform for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible business practices.

“I am pleased to confirm that Nexira supports the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact on human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. As the world leader in acacia gum, we have a corporate responsibility. We must look to the future and carry strong values, which have meaning, and which correspond to us.”, declared Mathieu Dondain, Managing Director and Vice President at Nexira.

As an independent and family-owned company, Nexira’s sustainability legacy began in the 1970s, with a focus on preserving acacia forests. With the support of SOS Sahel, Nexira has been mobilizing into the Acacia Program since 2009. This innovative and collaborative approach combines economic and social development for local populations with environmental protection to prevent deforestation. The Acacia Program is aligned with four of the UN’s SDG.

In 2023, the third phase of the Acacia Program has been launched, with a strong focus on Climate Action.

Nexira is also committed to a low-carbon strategy and offers inavea™, its organic and carbon-neutral range of acacia fibers, an unprecedented accomplishment in the acacia gum industry.

As a special initiative of the UN Secretary- General, the United Nations Global Compact is a call to companies everywhere to align their operations and strategies with ten universal principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. Launched in 2000, the mandate of the UN Global Compact is to guide and support the global business community in advancing UN goals and values through responsible corporate practices. With more than 20,000 companies and 3,000 non-business signatories based in over 160 countries, and more than 70 Local Networks, it is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world.
